Consecutive and simultaneous interpreting for courts, conferences, and virtual meetings — in-person or via Zoom.
Used in courts and disciplinary hearings, where a person answers questions put to them by a lawyer, advocate, judge or chairperson. Proceedings are often conducted in English, but everyone has the constitutional right to be heard and tried in the language of their choice. The norm is one interpreter per language — for example, an Afrikaans interpreter works only from and into English.
Used in conferences, parliamentary sessions, municipal council meetings, classrooms, board meetings and workshops. Two interpreters per language combination sit in a soundproof booth with earphones and a microphone, interpreting in real-time — no delays, unlike consecutive interpreting. English remains the common denominator, with each language expert relaying the floor language into English for the other interpreters to work from. In classrooms and boardrooms, this can also take the form of whisper interpreting (chuchotage).
Virtual meetings, fully supported. We provide soundproof booths for interpreting via Zoom, and can set you up with the equipment you need — computers, tablets, microphones and headsets — with support to get everything running (technical support throughout the live event is not yet offered).
